"Paper Floaty Cube" is a new sonic environment where people can experience a unique auditory illusion as well as the properties of specific sounds in space.
The cube is made out of paper, and hung from the ceiling as if it is floating in the air. You are invited to enter the cube, stepping into its manufactured sonic environment. Upon entering you will experience the full effect of sound localisation and physical vibrations which make up the sonic composition of the work. A speaker on each of the paper surfaces of the cube generate interesting sound vibrations by enhancing the sonic properties of the paper structure. A visual representation of the sounds is also presented through a number of LED lights which change with the volume of the sounds, more particularly, in order to project an aesthetic shadow of an audience against a paper surface which acts as a projector screen.
紙の立方体が宙に浮いている。
中に入ってみると四方の紙の面の裏側にはクワトロフォニックにセットされた4つのスピーカがぴたりと張り付く。
100Hz以下のサインウェーブが鳴る時、その紙は音波により振動を起こし、アコースティックなグラニュラーサウンドを実現。
フィールドレコーディングを加工し、サインウェーブと紙の振動音を調和させ、音楽的構成を持つようになる。尚かつ、音は四方に動きを持ち、サラウンドサウンドを楽しめ、新しい音響環境を体験することができる。
音を視覚化するため、四方には8個のLEDが付けられ、音の方向に従いLEDが光り、音量に従い光量が決まる。四方の紙がスクリーンとなり、中にいる人たちの影を美しく映し出す。
